Baton Rouge means “red stick” in French. In 1699, the French arrived in the area to discover cypress poles dyed red that were placed along the river. These “red sticks” let outsiders know that they were crossing into Indian hunting territory.

Legend has it that years later during the Civil War, when precious metals and stones were rare commodities, young suitors gave their betrothed a red wand or stick, a promise of eternal love & marriage when they returned from the conflict. In that tradition, we offer our Red Stick Romance experiences. Celebrate your love for one another, an engagement, honeymoon, or just a getaway.
