Red Stick Romances
Baton Rouge means “red stick” in French. In 1699, the French arrived in the area to discover cypress poles dyed red that were placed along the river. These “red sticks” let outsiders know that they were crossing into Indian hunting territory.

Legend has it that years later during the Civil War, when precious metals and stones were rare commodities, young suitors gave their betrothed a red wand or stick, a promise of eternal love & marriage when they returned from the conflict. In that tradition, we offer our Red Stick Romance experiences. Celebrate your love for one another, an engagement, honeymoon, or just a getaway. All packages include lodging in one of our beautiful bedroom suites, rose petals and turn down service, chocolates with chilled champagne, and breakfast in bed the first morning. Choose the popular dinner packages, and enjoy a sumptuous and romantic meal at the Mansurs On The Bouleard or French Market Bistro located just across the road from the Stockade (appetizer, salad, entree, dessert, and a bottle of house wine, gratuity and tax included). And of course, you’ll receive a “Red Stick” to take home as a memory of your unforgettable and romantic stay in Baton Rouge!

All package rates are double occupancy per person (unless indicated otherwise) and include a peaceful rest in one of our unique queen or king accommodations. In addition to the described package feature, you’ll enjoy a delicious prepared breakfast in the dining room, afternoon snacks with wine or tea and complimentary parking.
