Step back in time and enter the world of Huey Long: the controversial political icon of Louisiana; where he lived, where he worked, and what he accomplished. Huey P. Long’s turbulent life was brief, but a “fast track” political career carried him from State Commissioner for Louisiana to United States Senator in just eight years, and at the time of his death, he was planning to run for the U.S. Presidency. Despite his short tenure on earth and his largely regional affiliation, one would be 
hard pressed to find another U.S. historical figure who has had greater impact on American literature and politics than Huey Long, also known as “The Kingfish.” Your self-guided tour will start with the magnificent Old State Capital; next, you’ll explore the quarters of the Old Governor's Mansion where Huey Long lived as governor. Enjoy lunch nearby at Avoyelles Cafe on 3rd Street, a local political hangout (lunch entrée, dessert, beverage, gratuity and tax included), and then you’re off to marvel at the design of New State Capital where Huey Long's reign came to an end with an assassin’s bullet. Even the manner of his death is still in dispute today.
You won’t want to forget to visit the observation level of the building to take in the breathless views of Louisiana’s Capital City. Your package includes a two night stay at the bed and breakfast, the tours and lunch.
